Rehabilitation of the 17 MW run-of-river station located on Ranolia Khwar, a tributary of Dubair Khwar, in the district of Kohistan, is to be co-financed by the Asian Development Bank. The plant, which was commissioned in September 2021, was severely damaged by major flash floods in August 2022. The weir structure was completely washed away while the structure and machinery in the powerhouse was heavily damaged.
The scope of contract, with an estimated value of PKr 1503.84, will comprise: (i) Construction of RCC flood protection works at the powerhouse and switchyard of Ranolia, (ii) Construction of tailrace and bypass chamber at the powerhouse, (iii) Siphon reconstruction and protection at Ranolia Khwar Crossing and (iv) Construction of protection works at the weir and sand trap of Ranolia.
Sealed bids are invited through a “Single Stage One Envelope Bidding Procedure” under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement (KPPRA) Rules 2014 as amended, from eligible firms with a valid Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) License in category C-1 and above.
