BKW, a leading Swiss power producer and supplier, invites bids by 7 June for the supply of electro-mechanical equipment for a small hydro plant to be built on the river Sousbach, in the central canton of Bern. Bids are sought for the supply of a turbine and turbine controller, a turbine shutoff valve and inlet pipe, a cooling water system and generator, according to a tender notice published on the EU’s procurement website TED on 9 April.
The project is to be developed by WKW Sousbach, a partnership between BKW and EWL Genossenschaft Lauterbrunnen, the local municipal cooperative. The run-of-river plant will have an installed capacity of around 10 MW and is expected to generate average annual output of around 28 GWh for EWL’s network, corresponding to the annual supply needs of more than 6000 households, according to a concession application submitted in January 2016.
