Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Thailand’s vertically integrated state utility, invites sealed bids from individual bidders or joint ventures by March 9 for the design, manufacture, fabrication, shop tests, supply, delivery to site, insurance, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and on-site training for a hydro-floating solar hybrid project at the Ubol Ratana dam.
The project must comprise a crystalline silicon PV solar powerplant not less than 31.19 MWp and not more than 31.2 MWp. The hybrid pilot project will generate electricity from both hydropower and solar power and comprise an energy management system (EMS) along with battery energy storage system (BESS) to enhance efficiency and continuity of power generation. The scope of supply also includes a floating PV system, anchoring and mooring system, 22 kV electrical system and transmission lines, control and monitoring system and related software system.
The Ubol Ratana Dam is a multi-purpose dam in Khon Kaen Province, in the northeastern area of Isan, which provides electricity generation, irrigation, flood control, transportation, fisheries, and serves also a as tourist attraction. Its 32 m-high earth core rockfill dam, constructed in 1964, impounds the Nam Phong, which flows into the Chi River and thence to the Mun River, a tributary of the Mekong River, creating a reservoir with a maximum storage capacity of 2.263 x 106 m3.
It has an associated 25.2 MW hydropower plant, comprising three Kaplan turbines, each with an installed capacity of 8.4 MW, which generates an average of 57 GWh a year.
