CVPP tenders electro-mechanical works for 540 MW Kwar hydro project

Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited (CVPPL), a joint venture between India's state power producer NHPC and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC), the state power utility serving Jammu and Kashmir, invites online electronic bids on an international competitive bidding basis by 15 July from qualified contractors for the electro-mechanical works package of the 540 MW Kwar hydropower project in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The contract, with an estimated total cost of INR 9.464 billion (US$ 113.3 million), covers the design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of turbines, generators, associated accessories and auxiliaries, auxiliary electrical equipment-mechanical equipment, 400 kV GIS substation and 400 kV outdoor pothead yard equipment. The contracted work is expected to be completed within 40 months.

The run-of-river project on the river Chenab, in Kishtwar district, will comprise a 109 m-high concrete gravity dam, with water to be diverted through four 5.65 m-diameter penstocks to an underground powerhouse, with four Francis turbine-generator units, with capacity of 135 MW each.
