Civil works contractor sought for Austrian small hydro plant

ARGE Gratkorn, a joint venture between Austria's leading power producer Verbund Hydro Power and Energie Steiermark Green Power, the renewable energy arm of the Austrian regional multi-utility, invites bids by 22 February for a main civil works contractor for the construction of the Gratkorn small hydro plant on the river Mur in the southeastern Austrian state of Styria.

Construction of the 11 MW greenfield run-of-river project, which is to be located north of the city of Graz, is scheduled to begin later this year, for commissioning in early 2024.

Kleinwasserkraftwerk Gratkorn is expected to generate average annual output of 54 GWh. The contracted work is anticipated to start on 1 September 2021 and to be completed by the end of 2023.
