The turnkey contract will entail the preparation of technical documentation and supply of all necessary equipment and works with the objective of increasing the amount of electricity generated by the installation using state-of-the-art, reliable and high-efficiency equipment to extend the lifetime of the hydropower plant by a further 25 years.
Specific objectives include ensuring a total installed rated power to be provided by the hydropower units that are replaced over its lifetime of a minimum of 7473 kW, increasing the energy efficiency by a minimum of 10 per cent and ensuring technical and operational availability of at least 95 per cent. The station, which is part of the Turceni hydropower scheme, and is located 3.5 km upstream of the Turceni upstream water intake dam, generates an average annual output of at least 24 GWh.
The project, which has an estimated value of RON 46.921 million, including VAT (€9.427 million) is to be financed by the Ministry of Energy from the EU Modernization Fund, which is providing 64.5 per cent of the total cost, with the balance to be covered by Complexul Energetic Oltenia.
