More than $450 million/year is being invested in rehabilitation work at hydroelectric facilities and inland navigation systems in North America. The authors estimate that a major further investment in North American water infrastructure will be required to meet the ongoing needs of the current system. The region’s infrastructure has reached a critical point, so investments in rehabilitation can wait no longer.
