Social impacts of hydro development: experiences from Bakun, Malaysia

Progress already achieved and plans for the future to mitigate social impacts at the 2400 MW Bakun dam project in Sarawak, Malaysia are presented. Measures are shown to be consistent with the policies of the World Bank, in addition to national legislative requirements made by the Malaysian government.
