Sealing the traction joints at Chaglla dam, Peru

The Chaglla hydropower plant, constructed in Peruvian Amazonia, required special sealants to mitigate significant movement after filling the lake to 211 m, equivalent to 2.1 MPa of hydrostatic pressure. After several studies, a special sealant, the Omega ‘E’ System was created. This paper details how the Omega ‘E’ sealant system was used at the Chaglla project.
