In recent years China has achieved rapid progress in the field of hydropower development. With the construction of a series of large dams and reservoirs, Chinese dam construction technology has reached a very advanced level. To show some typical examples of the wide range of schemes being undertaken at present, progress at some of the major schemes under construction or recently completed is summarized here.
