Progress at La Romaine complex, Canada: North America’s largest hydro project under construction

Reservoir impoundment at the Romaine 4 facility started in June last year, and the maximum operating level was reached on 18 July this year. The Romaine 4 powerplant will be commissioned in 2022. The six asphalt core rockfill dams forming the Romaine 2 reservoir, where impounding began in 2014, are behaving very well and a comparison with similar structures in Norway and Austria is presented in this paper, along with a report on the latest developments and progress at the entire La Romaine complex.
