Mapping of sediment-related O&M costs at eight hydro plants in operation

The paper presents a study with data and analyses of annual sediment-related costs for eight hydro plants in operation in five countries. Two methods which have been developed for data collection are described, assessed and analysed. The results indicate that actual, recordable sediment-related costs could be as much as 8.5 per cent of the annual gross revenues for some hydropower plants and up to US$21/ kW/year.
