Integrating dam monitoring software into safety management programmes

For the efficient use of dam monitoring systems, monitoring data have to be turned into useful information to provide dam owners with accurate information on the safety levels of their dams. This information should be updated and easily accessible for all technicians and engineers involved in, and responsible for, dam safety. A web-based application for the integrated management of monitoring data (DAMDATA) has been developed and adapted to the requirements of different dam owners. The experience gained during the implementation stage, as well as more than six years of operation in the control of more than 55 dams in the Ebro River Basin Authority, is described in this paper.
