Hydro potential and development opportunities: Hydro ambitions across Scotland

In line with the Scottish Government’s declaration of a Climate Emergency, Scottish Water has made a commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040, which is five years ahead of Scotland’s national target. Scottish Water is consequently undergoing a major transformation to reduce its emissions. An interim renewables target has been set to generate an additional 120 GWh/year by 2030, which would be enough to power 41 000 homes each year.
