Exploring FPV potential on hydro reservoirs in Tajikistan

Tajikistan relies heavily on its abundant hydro resources for electricity generation, however the country experiences deficits in the winter months and excess capacity in the summer, because of hydrological conditions. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is therefore supporting the Government to explore the potential of floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems that are connected to existing hydropower plants. The aim is to diversify generation sources and help provide energy security, support the effective use of the country’s significant water resources, and harness energy trade opportunities in the wider Central Asia region.
