Continuing development of Venezuela’s vast hydro potential

The authors present a detailed analysis of past significant hydropower development in Venezuela, and the potential for future exploitation of the considerable remaining potential by region. They also highlight problems which have impacted the country’s power sector in recent years, and suggest priorities for future steps to resolve these issues, so as to move forward with the rehabilitation of existing hydraulic works, completion of schemes such as Tocoma, as well as new schemes for the future.
