Constructing an additional intake and headrace canal at Inga 1 and 2

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has a shortage of electricity. The Inga site, located on the Congo river next to the Inga rapids, about 200 km southwest of Kinshasa, constitutes a large source of energy and could potentially become the world’s largest hydropower scheme, producing up to 45 GW of electricity. This paper summarizes the construction activities of an additional water intake and headrace canal for increasing the capacity of the existing Inga 1 and 2 dams in DRC.
