Balanced hydrosuction: The basis for automatic sediment removal systems

Sedimentation continues to affect reservoirs and powerplants throughout the world. The global water storage capacity is being reduced by floods, which are becoming more extreme as a result of climate change. Hence, more and better options are required for the efficient removal of sediments, in an environmentally friendly way. Some components for hydrosuction dredgers, designed in recent years to address specific challenges, and applied at some reservoirs in Latin America, are described here.
