Application of digital transformation in the civil engineering of hydropower projects

The Kansai Electric Power Company has been engaged in digital transformation for maintenance, operations and renovations, as well as the creation of new business, since 2018. This paper introduces two cases of operational improvements enabled by digitalization. First, the use of drone technology for civil inspections and maintenance is reported, then experiences of using high-resolution image capturing technologies for safety surveillance around dams and reservoirs.
