Verbund Hydro Power invites bids by 29 June for the construction of the Limberg III pumped-storage plant as part of the Glockner-Kaprun power complex in the west-central Austrian state of Salzburg.
The contract will entail the main construction work and the supply and installation of the plant technology. The contracted work is anticipated to start in March 2021 and to be completed by the end of 2025, according to the tender notice published on the EU’s procurement website TED on 29 May. Limberg III will comprise two Francis turbines operating in pump mode as well as in turbine mode, with an installed capacity of 480 MW. The units, which will be installed in an underground powerhouse, will, like the Limberg II and Kaprun Upper Stage pumped-storage plants, use the existing reservoirs of Mooserboden (upper reservoir) and Wasserfallboden. Limberg III is designed to provide fine control to the grid, with the capability to operate in part-load ranges.
Bids are also invited by 29 June for the construction of the so-called Reisseck II Plus pumped-storage project in the Austrian state of Carinthia. The contract will entail the main construction work and the supply and installation of the electrical machine equipment for the Reisseck II Plus efficiency enhancement system at the Malta/Reisseck powerplant group.
The contracted work is anticipated to start in March 2021 and to be completed by the end of 2023, according to the tender notice published on the EU’s procurement website TED on 27 May.
