Construction of the Sendje hydro project in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea

The 200 MW Sendje scheme is being constructed on the Wele river in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Central Africa. When completed, the project will be the largest among all the country’s generating installations, and its 63 m-high concrete dam will be among the highest. This project, along with the previously constructed 120 MW Djibloho scheme, is an important part of the initial phase of the programme for the development of Equatorial Guinea’s hydroelectric capacity. The construction of the scheme is described in this paper.
