Chirkey seismic monitoring system remotely senses turbine vibrations

A seismic safety monitoring network system is presented for the Chirkey hydro project in Russia. The hardware, monitoring methods adopted and technical limitations are each reported. The key new feature of this system is remote monitoring of turbine vibration.
