Multipurpose water storage in the Niger Basin: Flow forecasting system

A hydrological modelling system has been developed by the Niger Basin Authority, with European support, which will improve flood prediction, and will also be useful for hydropower production forecasting and for optimizing the operation of a series of dams. Development and applications of the system are described here.
