Lenders’ technical advisor sought for Burundi Hydropower Scale-Up Small Hydro programme

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is seeking to engage a Technical Engineering, Environmental and Social Advisor (the Lenders’ Technical Advisor LTA) to advise the lenders group on full range of topics with respect to the Burundi Hydropower Scale-Up Small Hydro (SUSH) programme. Expressions of interest are invited by 13 October from qualified consulting firms.

The assignment shall include support to the lenders on due diligence activities up to financial close as well as construction supervision, monitoring, testing, commissioning, and the operations for a 10 MW run-of-river hydropower project until both principal and interest of the debt are fully repaid. The SUSH programme aims to roll out other run-of-river hydropower projects at a later date. The estimated duration of services is about 19 years broken down into three phases: Phase 1: Due diligence up to financial close (estimated period of one year), Phase 2: Construction, testing and commissioning (estimated period is two years) and Phase 3: Monitoring of operation following completion of works, which is expected for a period of 16 years.
