Design of the Chasombo and Chizuma hydro schemes in Malawi

A 64 MW cascade development of two hydro schemes for the Bua river in Malawi is now undergoing design. The main design features of the two RCC dams and powerplants are presented here, along with reference to environmental protection considerations, as the sites are located within a game park in Africa’s Great Rift valley.
